U.S. House Passes Hate Crimes Bill Today, 237 -180!

rainbowlibertyA Fully inclusive Bill in the House of Representatives, H.R. 1592, recognizing gay, lesbian, bisexual and Transgender individuals passed easily today by a vote of 237 to 180. The Senate will soon consider its own similar version, renamed the Matthew Sheppard Act.

The White House has issued a statement that senior advisors would advocate the President veto the measure should it reach his desk. The National Stonewall Democrat’s Executive Director, Jo Wyrick issued this Statement in response.

Please call the Capitol Senate Switchboard at 202-224-3121, give them your zip code, and leave a message to vote yes on the Matthew Sheppard Act. And while you’re at it, give a call to your state’s Representative thanking them for the today’s vote!
